daniel spoerri - "le dejeuner sous l’herbe" - 1983

photo documentation of daniel spoerri’s performance luncheon and its burial at the fondation cartier in 1983 and the archaeological dig undertaken in 2010 by bernard müller and team. film about the excavation of the buried luncheon is by laurent vedrine.

san keller - "les vacances de san keller" - 2013

"les vacances de san keller* is an invitation in the form of an authenticated certificate sold to the lucky collector that accepts to bring san keller along on an all-expenses paid vacation.

cat tuong nguyen & tracy lim - "small meals and some objects" - 2013

placing themselves in the public space, which in some swiss towns is off-limits to refugees, cat tuong and tracy, both foreigners in switzerand, invite strangers they encounter on the street to cook in these strangers’ homes, in their private sphere.

after the cooking session, the artists then ask the stranger to give them an object representing friendship that will be exhibited in the gallery. the shelves stayed empty if the invitation was rejected.

navid tschopp - "the guest" -  2013

 the locale of this performance is important as the basement is the underground, the place of the invisible, the illicit, the unofficial, but also a place of sanctuary and shelter for the marginalized. the guest explores the power struggle between curator and artist, as well as host and guest, roles which curator and artist play in the exhibition process. but as the performance unfolds, it soon becomes clear that both curator and artist are actually just hostages of the public. as the ultimate guests, the public becomes our master.

mo diener & rr marki kollectiv -  "tableaux viviants" - 2013

mo diener and rr marki kollectiv will present "tableaux vivants" as part of the intervention roma jam session. if folkloric and ethnic background is celebrated and romanticized in our neoliberal european multicultural life, rr marki collective aims to work with an antagonistic participatory methodology. with various performance strategies as well as media analysis, the collective aims to reveal roma lives as an unknown part of european societies. photographs of the tableaux vivants with the participation of the audience will be taken and exhibited daily.

the sailor asked to try a bit. he took a piece of the raw fish seasoned with hot pepper­ just like the local man's, bit into it, began to chew, and when he felt his mouth, throat, and even the blood in his body suddenly turn to fire, taking him to hell and back to heaven in a moment's breath, he hoarsely cried out in desperation, "son of a bitch!"

In the wise way of language, that phrase became sonabitch, and then, simply, sebitch. and that is how, as the story goes, in a happy outburst, ceviche was christened.

THE PROPOSAL goes beyond conventional gallery concepts. art and hospitality are combined in order to ensure visitors a pleasurable experience. art is even conveyed in sleep – with beds for visitors as part of the gallery concept. guess who's coming to sleep.

guess who’s coming to dinner: hospitality as artistic practice features interactive performances, installations, photography and videos that explore, question, and analyze the relationship and conflict between guest and host. itinerant projects is the curatorial and programming platform of olga stefan, www.olgaistefan.wordpress.com
